ScrollTrace — Privacy Policy

1. Information We Do Not Collect

ScrollTrace is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information. We do not read your messages, emails, or passwords, record your screen or take screenshots, or sell, trade, or share any data with third-party advertisers or data brokers.

2. Android Accessibility Service API (Mandatory Disclosure)

ScrollTrace uses the Android Accessibility Service API to function. This service is used exclusively to detect scroll events when you are actively using the Instagram and YouTube applications, allowing the app to calculate the number of Reels or Shorts viewed.

• The service only monitors the package names of these specific applications — no other apps are monitored.
• We do not use the Accessibility Service to capture or store any sensitive information or user interactions beyond the scroll action.
• The Accessibility Service is only activated after you provide explicit permission in your device settings.
• You can revoke this permission at any time.

3. Data Storage and Processing

All tracking data (number of scrolls, time spent, and sessions) is stored locally on your device in a private database. We do not upload your scrolling activity to any servers. If you delete the app, all your local data is permanently erased.

4. Third-Party Services

We use Firebase Analytics (a service by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated technical data, including:

• App crashes and performance logs
• General device information (e.g., model, OS version)
• App installation and open counts

This data is used solely to improve the app's performance and stability. It is not linked to your individual scrolling habits.

5. Permissions

In addition to Accessibility Services, the app may request:

• Notifications — to show real-time scroll counts and daily goal alerts.
• Post-Boot — to ensure tracking resumes automatically if your phone restarts.

6. Children's Privacy

The app is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
